FAI Technik Completes 7,800 Landings’ Inspection and Full Cabin Refurbishment on Bombardier Challenger 604
FAI Technik, a leading provider of MRO services, has successfully completed a 7,800 landings’ inspection on a Bombardier Challenger 604, marking a significant milestone in its maintenance capabilities. This inspection, one of the most comprehensive and rare procedures performed on the airframe, underscores FAI Technik’s expertise and dedication to delivering high-quality maintenance solutions for executive aircraft.
The 7,800 landings’ inspection, achieved in over 6000 manhours, required extensive disassembly of the aircraft. Components including the engines, fuel tanks, APU, thrust reversers, and flight controls were removed for detailed non-destructive testing (NDT) such as X-ray, ultrasonic, eddy current, and magnetic inspection.
In addition to the inspection, FAI Technik performed a full cabin refurbishment, elevating the existing unique 18-passenger configuration to new standards of elegance and functionality. This layout, highly demanded by customers, now features enhanced superior comfort, making it ideal for larger groups seeking a premium travel experience. To further improve the aircraft’s operational capabilities, FAI Technik also installed a state-of-the-art SwiftBroadband (Aviatior 350) Satcom system, offering seamless connectivity for passengers and crew.
“Performing a 7,800 landings’ inspection is a complex and rare undertaking.  I am proud of our team for their exceptional performance in delivering this project on time and to the satisfaction of our customer,” said Michael Axtmann, Managing Director of FAI Technik. “Our ability to execute such intricate tasks reflects the unparalleled expertise of the team and the investments we’ve made in our MRO capabilities.”
As an operator of its own fleet of Bombardier aircraft, including the Challenger 604, FAI Aviation Group and its MRO, FAI Technik, possess unique insights into the operational needs of MRO customers. This dual expertise as both operator and MRO provider enables the company to anticipate and address customer requirements effectively, ensuring optimal performance and reliability for Challenger operators worldwide.
With this achievement, FAI Technik solidifies its position as one of the most experienced MRO providers for Challenger maintenance in Europe, joining a very select group globally capable of undertaking such an inspection. FAI Technik is set to undertake a further 7,800 landings’ inspection on a Challenger 604 in January 2025.
